How did you two meet each other?
(UNM). The fall of our junior year in 2015 were we both required to take a class about intellectual disabilities. We sat next to each other. For the first 3 weeks of class we ignored each other, like everyone does in college classes right? Well, eventually the professor had an assignment in which you had to “work with the person next to you.” So we begrudgingly turned to each-other and talked. After about 20 mins of working on the assignment, the professor said that there would be a 10 minute break before class resumed. We talked through the entire break.
And as they say “the rest is history.”
What was the best memory of your wedding day?
One of our absolute favorite memories was being announced into the barn at the reception. As the doors opened and everyone cheered (it was insane how loud they cheered, especially Erin’s mom) we felt how much we were loved. It just showed us how happy our loved ones were to finally celebrate with us. It made us feel like postponing was totally worth it!
Another of our favorite memories was our first dance because it was so goofy and we were happy to just be us, surrounded by everyone that we love.
What would be some advice you would give to future couples as they plan their wedding day?
Everyone will tell you that planning a wedding is super stressful. We think that it is only as stressful as you make it. Planning a wedding is hard work, so be a team to limit any stress. A lot of people will say that your wedding is all about you. We agree that your MARRIAGE is all about you, but your wedding is just as much about you as it is about your loved ones, especially your parents. Allow them to share your spotlight!
Where did you go on your honeymoon? Where did you stay and what were a couple activities you enjoyed.
We went to Maui and then to Kauai. Great islands to pair together if you are going to Hawaii. In Maui we stayed at Hotel Wailea, Relais & Châteaux; best place to stay for a honeymoon! A great activity (and probably most popular) is the road to Hana. If you do the road to Hana you should download the app “Shaka guide” and purchase the road to Hana tour. It was a lifesaver and probably the best purchase we made on our honeymoon! In Kauai we did a helicopter tour, which was amazing. We would absolutely recommend Maui and Kauai, but above all we would recommend choosing a place neither of you have ever been. It was important to us to have our first big adventure as a married couple be a brand new experience that we could share in together.
