What was the best memory of your wedding day?
The feeling of riding an all-day wave of love and support from our friends and family.
What would be some advice you would give to future couples as they plan their wedding day? Or specifically planning a destination wedding?
Do: Consider an all-inclusive resort. We wanted to avoid the stress of planning every single detail and make things easier on our guests.
Do: Bring your own photographer! The resort offered photography from a company they are partnered with, but having someone we knew do the photography felt so much better. As a friend, Drake knew exactly how to make us comfortable and captured our special day perfectly! You can also oftentimes avoid an outside vendor fee by having them as one of your guests and booking them a room at the resort.
Do: Plan a couple of events around the ceremony. We did a cocktail hour the evening before the wedding day so that our guests could meet and mingle. We also booked a private catamaran for the day after the wedding to keep the celebration going.
Do: Stay a couple days longer than your guests. When all is said and done, you will appreciate some extra quiet time with just your partner to relax and celebrate your new marriage.
Don’t: Expect quick responses from the coordinator at the resort until a month or two before your big day. They have many weddings to plan, but you will become a priority as your event draws nearer. If you are someone who likes all the little details to be planned out well beforehand, you may want to consider hiring an outside wedding coordinator.
Don’t: Sweat the small stuff. Some small details can get lost in communication when you are planning from afar but once the day comes, you and your guests won’t notice—you are already in paradise! Stay in the moment and have fun.
Where did you go on your honeymoon? Where did you stay and what were a couple activities you enjoyed. Would you recommend to other couples?
We considered our destination as a 2-in-1 for our wedding and honeymoon. We stayed an extra day at the resort after all of our guests left, but we wish we would’ve had another day or two to ourselves! Part of our decision to get married in January was so that we can plan yearly anniversary getaways to escape the winter cold. We are eyeing Turks and Caicos for our one year anniversary!
