How did you two meet?
We met the modern way: by swiping right on Bumble (swoon!) in July 2021. After exchanging a handful of messages, Bob asked Shannon if she would be interested in meeting for coffee on the Saturday coming up. Shannon had plans to lead a singles group hike on Saturday and suggested Bob join. She figured if they didn’t hit it off, maybe Bob would find someone else in the group. The night before, Shannon had to cancel the hike because of rain. Bob suggested that they still meet in the morning for coffee instead. It was at that moment Shannon thought about not going on the date but realized Bob already knew she was free. Begrudgingly, Shannon drove to Littleton to meet Bob for coffee, and it turned into a wonderful, three hour coffee date. After the date was over, Shannon sent Bob a message (before she left the parking lot) to let him know that she was hesitant heading into the date but that she had a great time. Bob responded… “I have a friend who says the point of a first date is to see if you want a second date. I definitely want a second date. Hope you feel the same way.”
What was your favorite memory from your wedding day?
Our favorite memory was exchanging our vows that we wrote to each other. Shannon’s vows were so touching that she made herself cry… and everyone else too! Bob managed to add in the chorus from “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” by Aerosmith into his vows which made Shannon laugh because Bob jokingly said he was going to sing it to her at some point during the wedding.
Do you have any advice for couples as they plan their wedding?
At the very least, hire someone to be your Day of Wedding Coordinator so you can fully enjoy your wedding day. Start early and knock out as much wedding planning as you can because there are so many little things that pop up right at the end.
Where did you go on your honeymoon?
We went to Costa Rica and explored around the northern part of the country for a week. We kicked off our honeymoon at an adults-only resort in Tamarindo for two nights, enjoyed relaxing on the beach, watching sunsets from the balcony in our room, and massages by the pool. The next two nights we stayed in La Fortuna near the volcano. We hiked through a rainforest where we saw howler monkeys and also hiked to the famous La Fortuna waterfall. Our last two nights were spent just outside of Liberia at Hotel Hacienda Guachipelin. The resort included complimentary access to seven waterfalls, Rio Negro hot springs, ziplining, and close access to Rincon de la Vieja National Park.
