Megan + Scott {Horsetooth Reservoir Engagement Shoot, Colorado Sunset Engagement Shoot}
We met Megan and Scott at one of our lovely 2012 weddings. We were so excited when we got a call from Megan saying they were moving back to Colorado from the east coast and planning their wedding for this fall up in Evergreen. They are a wonderful couple and we are proud to showcase them on the blog this Valentines Day. They met years ago while in school at Colorado State University in Ft. Collins. It was only fitting then that we started with a few in Old Town Square before moving to the iconic cliffs overlooking Horsetooth Reservoir for a beautiful Colorado sunset. Thanks for checking out our latest work. We would love to hear your thoughts!
Our Love Story...
Two years ago to the day my life changed forever. It was on this day that I asked Ashley to marry me under Kodiak The Big Blue Bear in downtown Denver. Why there you ask? Well quite cheesy I know, but Ashley nicknamed me her big bear and her nickname subsequently became little bear :) The rest of the story is better said in her words so here was her accounts of that day a couple years ago.... To preface this story, I’ve known that this day was coming for quite some time and I thought there was no possible way that Drake could surprise me. I’m inquisitive, sometimes to a fault, and he’s not the best at keeping secrets, however he managed to amaze me this time!!
Yesterday morning (Valentine’s Day) Drake stopped by my office to deliver a dozen yellow and orange tulips with a very sweet card. It was definitely a nice surprise. I also knew that we had dinner reservations at Fogo de Chao, a Brazilian steakhouse, so I assumed it would be a typical V-Day (flowers, chocolate, dinner).
I was going about my daily work routine when around 330pm my boss, Tom, told me that he needed me to meet a client in front of the Denver Convention Center to pick up some documents. He told me that I needed to take a cab because it would be difficult to carry the documents back to the office on the mall ride (Denver’s 16th Street free transportation). He told me I would be meeting a guy named Roger wearing a tan Carhartt jacket. Immediately upon exiting the cab, I saw a guy in a tan Carhartt jacket walking about a block away in the opposite direction carrying a large bag. I took off walking at my typical fast pace to catch him when all of a sudden Drake stepped out from behind the big blue bear. I was completely confused (thinking Drake probably had a wedding client meeting that I wasn’t aware of). I told him that I had to go meet Roger and I would come right back. He told me that there was no Roger and the only person I was coming to meet was him (the guy in the jacket was a complete coincidence). He had a red rose in his hand that led me to believe that he and Tom had schemed a ficticious meeting with “Roger”. He began by saying that he was completely in love with me and that he had dreamed of this day for years. He asked me if I would be his little bear forever and ever. And I of course said yes, yes and a thousand times yes!!!
A passerby saw us and said that we looked so happy and offered to take our picture. (Good thing Drake keeps his camera on hand:) He said that he and his wife have been happily married for 45 years and he remembered how happy that day was for him and his wife.
Drake then proceeded to take me to the Peaks Lounge at the top of the Hyatt where we celebrated with champagne and strawberries while overlooking all of downtown Denver. It was absolutely perfect!
Needless to say Valentines Day has much more meaning for us now and a day I always look forward to to. We are now happily married and expecting our first child later this summer. Life is good! Love you Ashley
Ashley + Chris {Colorado Mountain Engagement Shoot, Colorado Engagement Photographer}
Ashley and Chris will officially tie the knot on Oct 6th, 2013 at Hudson Gardens in Denver. This lovely couple however like many of our couples and residents of Denver, love the mountain scenery and want to capture some great photos of themselves enjoying the Colorado landscape for their walls. We set out on their engagement shoot on a chilly but sunny winter day in the foothills. Luckily for them they had each others embrace to keep warm. We look forward to your fall wedding Ashley and Chris.
Erin + John's Engagement {Denver Engagement Photographer, Brighton Blvd Engagement Shoot}
I have know Erin for many years, working with her at a few fancy tequilla bars across Denver while in photography school. I was very excited to hear that she had found the one in John and that they were interested in having me come shoot their engagement session and upcoming mountain wedding this July. John is a great guy and perfect for Erin. Together with their Bernese Mountain Dog Mosley, they make a wonderful family. For their engagement shoot we took Black Betty (John's 1969 Chevy and most prized possession) out for a date night down by the tracks with some champagne and dancing. It turned out to be a fantastic evening despite the rare cloudy weather ruining our great Colorado sunset. Check out their photos and you can see just how happy John makes Erin.
Laura + Jarred {Camping Engagement, West Chicago Creek Campground Engagement Shoot}
Laura and Jarred met in college in Montana and moved to Colorado to pursue their jobs in the medical field. They are in the process of planning their Fall wedding at a villa just outside of Tuscany in Italy. We are super sad that we won't be joining them, however we were honored to have the opportunity to shoot their fun engagement session. They mentioned at our first meeting that they really loved to camp so Drake suggested that they have a camping themed engagement session. We took them into the Arapaho National Forest near Mt. Evans where they set up tent, built a fire, roasted s'mores, drank cider (with Tuaca of course) and played around with their pugs Bentley and Po. We love their sense of adventure and hope their Italian wedding is nothing short of amazing!
Lori + Sean {Evergreen Lake Engagement, Ice Skating Engagement Shoot}
Lori and Sean met via their love of swimming, biking and running aka triathlons. They met at the gym....I know plenty of girls who wish they could meet their future spouse at the gym! Lori and Sean wanted a fun mountain engagement shoot with sledding and ice skating so we took them up to Evergreen Lake where we did just that. We had a great time watching them sled in opposite directions and watching Lori skate circles around Sean:) We are looking forward to their intimate Mountain Top Beaver Creek wedding in September.
Kristen + Matt {Downtown Denver Engagement Shoot}
Kristen and Matt met through work at Wells Fargo a little over 2 years ago, however Matt was based in the Minnesota office, while Kristen was here in Denver. After about a year and a little arm twisting, Matt took the plunge and moved to Denver to be closer to her and of course closer to the gorgeous weather and skiing. Over the holidays, Matt proposed in one of the most amazing settings (guys take note); he took her to NYC, where he proposed in the middle of Central Park. How....romantic...right?!! Kristen and Matt are dear friends of ours. Kristen was actually our day-of coordinator for our beach wedding last May and I must say she and Matt did a fantastic job. We cannot wait to shoot their upcoming wedding in June and see how her own wedding planning will unfold.
When we are out an about in our daily lives, we love to capture the little moments between shoots with our smallest cameras...our iphones.
