How did you meet one another?
We met when Earl was my tour guide to Japan! We stayed in touch over the next several years, and bonded over our love of the World Cup.
What was the best memory of your wedding day?
Bamboo: Leading up to the wedding, I was very nervous about the weather reports. I was prepared for a lot of things, but not a foot of snow. In the end, I just had to accept it, and it was honestly perfect. My favorite season is winter, and I'm happy I was able to show our loved ones the breathtaking beauty of a Colorado mountain winter, especially since we could be cozy together indoors. It was so humbling seeing all of our friends, many of whom traveled from out of state (and low altitude), and knowing that we shared a moment in the rain and snow feels really special. Nature is unpredictable and awe-inspiring, and we're just along for the ride! Also, it was our dog (Denver)'s first time in the snow, and she had a blast. I'll never forget how happy she was to play in the snowbanks.
Earl: It's difficult to narrow it down to a single memory! The first glimpse of my soon-to-be wife at our "first look" on the day of sticks out as a particularly special moment, since I'd spent the 12 hours prior being so excited to see her. Throughout the entire day I had a recurring realization that so many of our friends and family had gathered in the mountains of Colorado to celebrate us, and they were *our* guests. Having the opportunity to show them how much I love Bamboo moved me to tears too many times to remember.
What would be some advice you would give to future couples as they plan their wedding day?
Ask vendors for recommendations! We were very lucky that our close friend (and my bridesmaid) Ashley was in the wedding industry already, and gave us a great list to start out with. We also got some recommendations from our coordinator, and just trusted everyone to show up and do an awesome job. We pretty much surrendered control over to our vendors, and it was the best decision we could've made. Since everyone had worked with each other before, everything ran like clockwork. Jessica was so good at communicating with everyone, and anticipated our needs before we even knew we had them.
Where did you go on your honeymoon?
We'll be going on our honeymoon in August. We'll be spending a few days in Singapore at the very cool Marina Bay Sands, then hopping around Malaysia (Penang, Langkawi, Kuala Lumpur) for a little over a week. No travel agent. We're very much looking forward to stuffing our faces with street food whenever we get the opportunity.
