How did you two meet?
We first met at a bar for a mutual friend's birthday. We became inseparable pretty quickly. We really enjoyed being around each other and had tons of common interests. We were both still working on our degrees through most of the first few years together. After we both finished our degrees and settled into our normal - fairly less hectic lives, he proposed. Just over a year later, we got married and now we're ready to see where life takes us from here.
What was your favorite memory from your wedding day?
We've been together for nearly 7 years and have lived together for most of that time. We decided to spend the night before the wedding apart and not see each other until the ceremony. That made seeing each other for the first time that day at either end of the aisle the best memory for both of us. Instantly all of the stress of the wedding and family went away.
What advice would you give to other couples planning their wedding?
Advice we would give any couple planning their wedding day is to pick just one thing to be crazy about and let the rest go. Also, no wedding day is perfect so aim more for making it about the two of you. We read this advice early on and although we were racked with nerves leading up to the big day, we were able to let go of so much. We payed for petals to be strewn down the aisle and put them out just so the wind could scatter them in a much more chaotic fashion than we were hoping for but they're petals...they were not what the day was about. Our one big thing that we swore we would not skimp on or skip doing research on was a photographer. We are so glad that we made that decision early on and found Drake and Ashley. If I was paying for their personalities alone, we would be happy with what we got. Drake and Ashley are so sweet and great to be around and they are great photographers.
Where did you go on your honeymoon?
We decided to space out our wedding and honeymoon a bit. We leave at the end of May for Hawaii for 11 days. Half the time will be on Kauai and the other half will be on Maui. We are really looking forward to visiting the Cat Sanctuary on Lanai, just a short ferry ride from where we will be in Maui. We asked for wedding gifts in the form of funds toward our honeymoon and we were graciously gifted so much of the trip that we didn't need to contact a travel agent. Also, we received tons of advice from friends on what to do and have contacted the concierge where we are staying to plan our adventures on each island.
