How did you two meet?
Although neither one of us wanted to resort to online dating, alas- that is where we found ourselves... and each other! We were matched on Bumble (an online dating website) in late May of 2019 and struck up a conversation regarding one of Andy’s profile pictures in which he was wearing Pac-Man pants... yes, Pac-Man pants. After a few weeks of messaging online, we decided to meet in person for our first date on June 13th at Hogshead Brewery in The Highlands. On that date, we discovered our shared love for the tv show Friends (among many other similarities) and ended up talking for hours. At the end of that evening we had both decided this date felt different than any other and that there was a true connection. That led to a second date the following week, becoming "official boyfriend/girlfriend" status by the end of June, then a few job changes (Andy starting his own business) and a pandemic- not to mention: a proposal a year later in December of 2020 all leading up to our wedding in September of 2021.
What was your favorite memory from your wedding day?
Laura's Best Memory: There are so many to choose from. The first thing that comes to mind- is getting a chance to see Andy before the ceremony and do our first-look. The amount of excitement I was feeling at that time, and seeing the emotion on Andy's face when he saw me for the first time is something I will never forget. As for another memory that brings a smile to my face is dancing and singing out on the dance floor with all my friends- specifically when Celine Dion came on.... we were all just singing our hearts out.
Andy's Best Memory: When Laura and I took an opportunity to "sneak away" to the pavilion and overlook everyone dancing in the barn and people hanging out on the courtyard grounds- just soaking it all in.
What is some advice you can give to couples as they plan their wedding day?
We had an absolute blast planning our wedding!! I think what helped us keep our cool and not get stressed out is that we both approached this process with an open mind. I had many vendors and people tell me I was "the most laid-back bride they had ever worked with", which I really took to heart! The most important thing to us is that we were getting a chance to marry each other- that is all that mattered! Planning a wedding while a pandemic is going on was certainly a challenge but I also think that allowed us to take the stress out of it at the same time- we first started the process by seeing what was even available around the time-frame we had in mind and going from there. So instead of coming to the process with huge expectations and demands of what we wanted, we instead took a look at what was available and chose from there what would best fit our style and needs. The process was made SO much easier once we had a venue and a date- everything else somewhat fell into place once you have that in place. What also helped was utilizing the list of preferred vendors from our venue- we knew they came highly recommended and that those particular vendors had experience at our particular venue, so that made the rest of the planning a little more simple.
Where did you go on your honeymoon?
We will be leaving on December 18th to go to Kauai, Hawaii until the 30th. We will be staying on the north side of the island at a family's property for 5 days before venturing down to the south side of the island and staying at an all inclusive resort for the remainder of our stay. We are looking forward to hiking, going whale watching, going to the beach, and visiting some national parks where Jurassic Park was filmed.
