How did you two meet each other?
Joel and I met through online dating on June 16, 2014. We both just graduated from high school and decided to go on a date before leaving for college. Little did we both know how much fun we would have together. We both love baseball, food, and movies so we hit it off pretty quickly. We then dated all throughout college. We got engaged a year after graduation and married two years later.
What was your favorite memory from your wedding day?
The best memory from our wedding day was seeing eachother for the first time when Lauren walked down the aisle with her dad. After waiting two years to get married because of covid, it was an amazing feeling knowing that we were finally getting to celebrate our love surrounded by friends and family. We also loved dancing with our friends and family all night. We had guests travel from all over the country, so it was so much fun to have everyone we love in one place.
What is some advice you would give to other couples as they plan their wedding day?
Enjoy it as much as possible. It can be stressful at times, but there really is no time like preparing for the best day of your life. Don’t forget the little details. We got to a point where we didn’t know if it was worth all of the DIY projects, but it made our wedding unique and fun for us and our guests. We did special touches like his and her drinks, a dog treat station, electric sparklers for the dance floor and send off, fans for the ceramony, pictures and signs from Etsy. Make sure you are both a part of the planning and eat as many cake samples as you can!
Where did you go on your honeymoon?
Joel and I traveled to Cancun the day after our wedding and stayed at Hotel Xcaret and Hotel Xcaret Arte. We highly recommend these hotels! Arte was the nicest because it was brand new and they had a lot of fun activities like pottery, music and dance lessons. Xcaret is more family-oriented but we stayed in the adult section which was really great. The service was beyond anything we have experienced and they really made us feel special. We got to our room and had a bucket of champagne and rose petals waiting for us. The room service was amazing and all-inclusive. The activities like zip-lining, cave jumping, atv riding, and snorkeling etc. were also included which was really nice. You get admission to 5 theme parks with your stay. We booked through Costco and it saved us a lot of money.
