How did you two meet?
Shortly after college, Rachel moved to Denver, Colorado where she would quickly feel at home. Adam had recently returned from a mission trip to Peru. It was at ``Theology on Tap`` at a local Irish pub where they would first meet and discover that Rachel's cousins lived in the same small town where Adam grew up--Highland, Illinois. This hometown connection began the foundational friendship that brought them together.
First Date
Nearly three years and five ``let's just hang out`` unofficial dates later, Adam finally asked Rachel, ``would you like to go on a date with me?``. That first official date included two of their favorite things--good pizza and live music. The following night was Halloween, and this couple couldn't get any odder as they showed up as the unknown Native American-Kung Fu duo, Bruce Lee and Princess Tiger Lily!
Engagement
Leading up to the proposal, Adam asked Rachel to pray a 9-day ``novena`` to St. Joseph. On day 8 they set off on a backpacking trip to Telluride. After they set up camp, they prepared dinner on a boulder next to the iconic Lower Blue Lake. During dinner, Rachel asked Adam if they could pray their novena. The problem--they hadn't memorized the prayers and there was no cell phone signal to look them up. Their hearts sank. But at that moment as they looked up, they saw a brilliant double rainbow above the lake. Even though Adam had planned to propose the following night, this arc struck him to the core as he thought ``if this isn't a sign from God, I don't know what is``. Adam fled to the tent to find the ring stuffed in his backpack, and returned on one knee below the rainbow as Rachel responded with a tearful ``yes``.

What was your favorite memory from your wedding day?
Adam: The best was probably the moment where we walked together up the altar and realized that this is a prefigurement of the heavenly banquet that we will enter into on our final day. The whole family dancing to Chuck Berry's "Run Rudolph Run" was pretty cool too.
Rachel: The surprise gift of getting to wear the same coat my grandma wore at her wedding 70+ years ago - still somehow in perfect condition. Especially important because my grandma and large family back in Missouri were not able to travel to the wedding due to the pandemic. My mom put broches on all of the ladies which helped add to the vintage flair we wanted - she's been collecting these broches for years at antique shops.
