How did you two meet each other?
We met playing ultimate frisbee and as members of the local Ski Patrol at Middlebury College. After running around the frisbee field and skiing for a few years, we became good friends and even traveled around Chile together during study abroad. We started dating towards the end of college and both moved to San Francisco after graduating. After quitting our jobs and surviving a 6 month trip around the world together, we knew this was it!
What was your favorite memory of the day?
Caroline - My favorite part of the day was really about how everything came together. We got to be in a very special place to me, with both of our families and share some very personal feelings in a low stress, beautiful environment that we would not have had if we'd had a bigger wedding. Instead of worrying about a timeline or decorations, I got to focus on being with my best friend up in the mountains. The entire day felt very us, including wearing Chaco's to hike, a secret handshake and sharing a special bottle of wine from our first ever trip together.
What would be some advice you would give future couples as they plan their wedding day?
Plans will change and that is ok! We were both sad when we had to postpone our "big" wedding due to COVID-19 but we ended up getting really excited as we thought through a way to still have our special day. The elopement and hike ended up being so special and intimate with our immediate families; it was a very different vibe but it made us so happy and resonated with everything that we wanted. COVID reminded us that even though its nice to have a bigger wedding, at the end of the day it's really about being with someone special who means the most to you. We're so glad we eloped this year, had our day and commitment together and will get to celebrate with all of our family and friends another day in the future!
