How did you meet each other?
We met for the first time at Earth Treks Climbing Gym in Golden! Kelsey was a nervous and slightly intimidated beginner, but Brad was a super experienced climber and a patient teacher. We had a lot of fun getting to know each other in between climbs. Weekly climbing dates quickly became a thing!
What's your favorite memory from your wedding day?
Brad’s favorite memory of our wedding day: having all of our favorite people in one place! Kelsey’s two favorite moments: I loved our first look, because I was starting to get more nervous as the afternoon went on, but as soon as I got to see Brad, my nerves disappeared, and I just got really excited to marry him and celebrate with our people. Also, I loved listening to Brad’s vows. I had actually never seen him cry EVER, so it was a pretty special moment to see him get so emotional. It was also a good affirmation that he wasn’t a robot, just in the knick of time! ;)
What is some advice you have for other couples planning their wedding day?
Our advice for future couples: prioritize the details that are most important to you and don’t stress about the rest! It’ll save time and make your wedding more personal. I spent waaaay too much time thinking about plates and napkins…and then realized I didn’t really care at all what we used! But I was really excited about details like decor and wedding favors, so those projects were worth spending more time on.
Did you go on a honeymoon?
We went to Slovenia for our honeymoon! It’s a very small country, so we rented a car and made a loop around the western part of the country, switching locales and Airbnbs every couple days. We actually got the idea to visit Slovenia from watching Chef’s Table on Netflix. There’s an episode about Ana Ros, a famous female chef in Slovenia, and they showed a lot of Slovenia in the episode. It was so beautiful, we wondered why we hadn’t heard more about it! On our honeymoon we ate an amazing eleven-course meal at her restaurant, Hisa Franko (which will be the best meal we ever eat), visited waterfalls, castles, and caves, wandered around the beautiful capital city of Ljubljana, and ate our weight in pizza, gelato, and wine daily. It was such an incredible trip!
