How did you meet each other?
We met through mutual friends. One weekend, all of Lacy’s friends went out of town, and she needed a teammate for an Olympic themed party. Lacy invited Carey and they became team Egypt. Carey spent hours dying white sheets in the bathtub with tea bags and then tearing them into strips for their mummy costumes. We might not have known we were a forever thing at the time, but we knew that we shared the same love for dressing up in costumes. We remained friends for a while before we actually went on our first date.
What was your favorite memory from your wedding day?
Lacy: When the train rolled through during the middle of Carey’s vows. It then gave us a nice little honk as encouraged by Lacy and all the wedding guests.
Carey: Enjoying ice cold Lone Stars at Gruene Hall during our photo session before the wedding with our maid of honor, best man and our photographers!
What is some advice you would give to future couples on their wedding days?
Lacy: Set some time aside for yourself on the big day. Schedule it in your timeline. You may not get the full amount of time you planned for, but at least if you are running behind schedule you already have a cushion built in. If you do get the time, sit down, breathe, smile.
Carey: Stick together on your big day. That way you will have the same memories when you look back because you will have talked to the same people and shared the same experiences.
Where did you go on your honeymoon? What activities did you do while there?
We went to Kauai, Hawaii and stayed at both the St. Regis and the Westin Villas. We went hiking, scuba diving and horseback riding to a waterfall. We ate amazing food and really took time to relax and enjoy each other. We loved our trip and would highly recommend it as there is no stress of a foreign language and exchanging money, but still an exotic place.
