How did you meet?
It's as they say, "Love finds you when you least expect it"...
Christopher and I connected through my ahhmazing sister, Renee, while technically the social media driving force, Facebook, ignited the fire. All it took was a Facebook message that lead to meeting for a drink at Clockwork in Raleigh, NC. If there was a moment my heart skipped a beat (other than on Breckenridge Mt. with Chris on a knee), it was when he walked me to my car like any gentleman would following our first date. He almost walked away before he turned around and said, "I really want to kiss you". A simple gesture that started a love story.
Fast forward 14 months (and 2 days), Christopher dropped to a knee at the top of peak 8 at Breckenridge Mt. with a view that would take your breath away. I didn't even mind the arctic air during that magical moment. Consistent with our crazy love, I almost mastered a split in my skis before I could say yes. Christopher no doubt surprised me in the best possible way, and we are beyond excited to start this new adventure as the "MacDonald’s"!
What is your favorite memory from your wedding day?
Bride: As cliche as it sounds, my favorite part of our wedding day was seeing my groom’s sweet face as I walked down the aisle. I was filled with emotions before those doors opened and seeing Chris gazing back quickly put me at ease. Chris and I wrote our own vows, and time seemed to stand still as we read them aloud to each other in front of our closest family and friends with a stunning backdrop. I wish I could relive that moment everyday, but knowing I have a life full of adventures ahead with Chris will suffice!
Groom: The environment, the people, the spirit and most of all my beautiful bride, Laura, made our wedding day perfect. When Laura walked through the doors and proceeded down the aisle, my breath was taken away. That was when I knew God had taken over our relationship and an angel was walking into my life.
What is some advice you would give to other couples planning their wedding day?
Our advice is easy and well known – “Don’t sweat the small stuff.” & “Cherish Every Moment.” Someone gave us a piece of advice that we thoroughly enjoyed on our wedding day – To pause once we were married, to look around and to really soak it all in. We even snapped a selfie during that moment and it’s something we’ll always cherish.
Did you go on a honeymoon?
Chris and I traveled to Vail, CO for our “mini-moon” after our destination wedding in Littleton. We stayed at the Vail Mountain Lodge and absolutely adored the cozy accommodations. During our adventurous mini-moon, we ate lunch atop Arapahoe Basin, explored the streets of Vail, hiked at Booth Falls Trail, zip-lined with Zip Adventures in Wolcott, CO, and relaxed at the Vail Mt. Lodge Spa. Our mini honeymoon was the picture-perfect ending to a vacation that started with traveling across the country with most of our favorite people followed by our unforgettable wedding!
