How did you meet each other?
Kourtney: January 13, 2014 started like any other day. I woke up at an ungodly hour and drove downtown to work. Little did I know that this is the day that my life for change forever. 8am rolled around and my boss strolled into my office with a striking young man in tow to introduce me to “the new guy.” I kept my composure, introduced myself with a firm handshake and participated in small talk, likely about the weather. The moment they left I slid back into my chair and smiled like a giddy schoolgirl… it was in that moment, something inside me knew that I had just met my husband for the very first time.
Buddy: You never know what you’re going to remember, or what moments in any given day you’re going to wish you remembered better. Luckily I remember this day extremely well – funny how that works. I remember being introduced to her as a co-worker, and I remember the tone of voice my boss used that told me “This is a special person right here.” Everyone’s extremely high regard for Kourtney was hard to ignore and I knew I needed to get to know this person. Luckily, that was the easiest thing in the world, and within days we already had a special relationship that we didn’t even really understand the significance of for months.
What was the best memory of your wedding day?
Kourtney: The best memory could easily have been the moment we first saw each other for the first time, our first dance, the drive down the mountain with our friends, or the epic dance party that followed because each and every memory of that day was amazing and beautiful. But the most precious memory of all was the 20 minutes that we sat hand in hand listening to Father Fox discuss the significance of marriage and the journey that we were about to embark upon. It was during that time that we were surrounded by those we love the most and the moment when two families really became one.
Buddy: Kourtney is romantic and sincere, and our time up at the front of that church will go down among the very happiest in my life (I’mreserving some space for future moments), but one of my favorite memories was the 20 minutes after photos but before the reception where we got to sit, just the two of us, in a back room at the venue and relax. It was probably the first we had spoken just to each other all day, and the first as husband and wife. The best part was that it was just as easy and nice to chat and relax together as we’ve come to love – reminder that some big things change but our foundation doesn’t.
What would be some advice you would give to future couples as they plan their wedding day?
Love each other. Love is what brought you to this place, love is what will get you through the good times and the bad, and love is what will live on once the day is over. Love each other!
Where did you go on your honeymoon? Where did you stay and what were a couple activities you enjoyed.
We embarked on a trip to New Zealand for 10 days. We had a car and lodges booked along the way, other than that it was up to us. We ended up going for beautiful hikes through national parks, roaming around towns and cities, taking a boat ride through Milford Sound, and enjoing the freedom to be on our own time schedule. I would absolutely recommend the location and make sure you don’t over book yourself. Go on adventures, embrace the culture, but also give yourself time to relax and recover from the stress of planning a wedding.
